The turn-on wire (also called the remote wire) is located behind the stereo. On aftermarket stereos, its usually a blue and white wire. The remote wire will tell your amplifier to turn on whenever the stereo is powered up (usually, whenever the vehicle is turned on).
How do I turn my amp on?
Play music through your receiver at about one-quarter volume. Turn up the gain of the subwoofer amp until the sound from your subwoofer completely overpowers the other speakers, without distorting. Turn the gain up until it distorts, then back it off until the sound is clean again.
Why cant I get my amp to turn on?
If the remote turn-on wire doesnt have power, your amp wont turn on. If it doesnt, youll want to check for any inline fuses and verify that the wire isnt loose, corroded, or shorted out somewhere. If the remote and power wires both check out okay, the next thing to look for is continuity on the ground wire.
Can a fuse be blown and not look like it?
Due to the way fuses are engineered, the likelihood that a fuse would become faulty without blowing is pretty slim, but there are rare instances in which a fuse might appear completely fine, even though no current runs through it.
