What do codes on bottom of cans mean?

We often get calls asking what the numbers mean on the bottom of the aerosol cans and how do they relate to our certification for the product. The first set of numbers is the canning or packaging date when the aerosol was filled. The next set of numbers is the canning code used by the canner to track their production.

Is it OK to eat something past the best by date?

A product will remain fresh and of good quality right up to the best-before date (and sometimes beyond), if it is properly stored, both at the store and at your home. It may still be safe to eat those foods after the best before date, but they may have lost quality and some nutritional value.

How can you tell how old Coke is?

Shelf life is typically considered to be 39 weeks for regular sodas and 13 weeks for diet sodas. Coca-Cola brand cans are stamped (typically on the bottom of the can) with a sell-by date in MMMDDYY format. There are additional codes included with the stamp that have nothing to do with dating.
