Question: How do I hook up an old turntable to my receiver?

How do you hook up an old turntable?

Attach it to a post or a screw (usually labeled “GROUND”) on your stereo (more on that below). Plug in the turntables power cord, set the function on the stereo to “phono,” and youre ready to go. Just be sure not to put the turntable too close to your speakers! (More on that below, too.)

Can you plug a turntable into aux?

Plug a turntable into an aux input and you may not hear anything even with the volume maxed. The reverse is also true – plug something that isnt a turntable into the phono input and the signal will be so strong it may well blow your speakers. Make sure the phono pre-amp is compatible with your cartridge.
