The fee is FJ$20.00. After the marriage ceremony it is advisable to apply for a proper/typed marriage certificate. This can be obtained from the local registry office at a fee of FJ$3.00.
How is court marriage done?
Application form (notice in the form specified) duly filled and signed by the bride and the groom. Documentary evidence of the date of birth of both the parties (matriculation certificate/ passport/ birth certificate) Receipt of fees paid with respect to the application form in the District Court.
Is marriage valid if not registered?
Non-registration of marriage does not nullify marriage. If the couple have lived together with intention and purpose and meaning of marriage then they are considered as married couple. It may be mutual divorce or any of the party of the couple can file divorce petition before the court.
