Question: Is all ercol furniture marked?

“All pieces of Ercol will have some sort of mark on them. These marks have varied over the years, and we have used stamps, labels and more recently, badges. A comprehensive list of these marks can be found in the book Ercol Furniture in the Making by Lesley Jackson.”

What is the finish on ercol furniture?

Ercol used lacquer because it is the only commercially viable finish for volume furniture maker. Hand finishing has always been the method of choice for the finest pieces of furniture. And it should be the method of choice for your Ercol furniture restoration project.

Is Ercol Furniture solid wood?

Traditional materials used to make Ercol furniture were elm, beech or pine. However, some collections use different types of wood (ash, oak, walnut etc.), so do not be deterred if your Preloved Ercol piece is made from a type of wood that you dont immediately associate with their furniture.

How do you clean ercol wood furniture?

Occasionally wipe with a soft cloth, lightly moistened using a mild detergent solution. Dry the surface immediately using a soft, lint-free cloth. Furniture with a wax-polished surface should be regularly dusted with a soft cloth. No more than twice a year, polish the surface using a natural beeswax polish.
