Sure, some knives have increased in value over time, and a handful have appreciated substantially. Makers like Randall, Scagel and Moran come to mind. At the very least, it becomes a tangible asset with a potential value that may be able to be recouped. Just be honest with yourself about that potential value.

Yes. Microtech makes a good product and seems to do a great heat treat on their blades. I would carry an OTF as an EDC if I could where I currently live. Thry just require a bit more care, but theyre more than practical.
